Enjoy a fun and powerful night of gospel music for the Anacostia Gracious Arts Program
This October, Washington DC’s own DC Washington lends his commanding voice to an evening of inspiring, powerful and—above all—fun gospel music to benefit the Anacostia Gracious Arts Program.
Washington is a staple at DC-area programs, including a frequent soloist for the Washington Nationals and Washington Redskins. His shows typically see him welcoming the audience in and making them feel at home in between rocking them back in their seats with soulful, resonant renditions of classic spirituals and gospel songs. AGAP’s directors are thrilled to be able to bring one of their favorite musicians into the heart of DC.

At the heart of AGAP lies a friendship formed between an inspired artist and a local youth minister who both had a desire to serve. They shared a love for the community in Southeast Washington, DC, and a faith in Jesus Christ. Thus, in the fall of 1999, they decided to work together to start a visual arts program as a means of ministry to the youth of Anacostia. The school launched with a $5,000 grant, used to purchase pottery wheels and art supplies. Initially the school was to be a visual arts program, but when a friend offered to teach private singing lessons, the idea of a complete visual and performing arts school was born.
