Georgetown Women’s Bible Study: Colossians, #3, Colossians 1:1-14
Homework for Oct 3, 2018
To prepare for the gathering on October 3, please read and meditate (“chew on”) the following questions:
1.Read Paul’s salutations in Colossians (Chapter 1, verses 1-5) and in 3 other of his letters to churches:
- Colossians 1:1-5
- Philippians 1:1-5
- Ephesians 1:1-2
- Galatians 1:1-5
What similarities do you find in how Paul:
- identifies himself
- in how he addresses his readers/ hearers
- in how he describes his prayers for them
2. Since we know that Paul is inspired by the Holy Spirit, we can see that these same prayers are being prayed for us. (Heb. 7:25: Christ ever lives to make intercession for us…)
- so how does God regard us?
- What is He Himself praying for us: (Col. 1:2b; 9-12)
3. What do these requests mean to you in your own life? What do you need/want most?
4. How does Paul define “a life worthy of the Lord” (Col. 1:10)?
